Our unique approach
At PHF, we provide the opportunity for needy and other socially disadvantaged people to regain control of their lives by living and working alongside others in a supportive communal environment.
PHF is a two-way arrangement as we will not be giving you charity. We are asking for you to come and be part of our community until you feel you are ready to move on. This means sharing responsibilities for helping others and in turn helping yourself.
An opportunity for change
Many of our companions, the name we give to our residents, have had personal challenges in the past.
Here at PHF we can provide support for those overcoming challenges such as addiction. If you can show that you are trying to or have overcome these, then we may be able to offer you a place in our community.
In fact, we provide help and support in many areas – from training, career development, and support to secure your own home, to help with mental health and physical wellbeing. If you want to make positive changes and impacts then PFH can help.
Are you ready to join us?
To join our PHF, we ask you to consider if you are able:
- To be part of a community of people who are committed to helping each other and helping others who are on the margins of society.
- To be willing to carry out meaningful work as part of a team volunteering in our social enterprise, and helping to keep our community running.
- To be prepared to be trusted with responsibilities.
- To be patient and understanding with others who live with you.

How do I apply?
At PHF we support children, young men and young women. We take referrals from agencies and individuals and each one is considered on its own merits. Our success depends on maintaining a stable community, therefore, every application is carefully considered. Once we receive your referral, if we feel we can support you and there is a vacancy, we will grant you an interview and a potential place in the program.
If you would like to apply to join our program or you are working with someone who would like to be considered, we are ready to assist
Our Aims and Approach
We want to contribute to the health, resilience, and versatility of our society. We believe that supporting education in its broadest sense and across the life course is a key way to do that.
Our aim is also to promote excellence in the areas we fund. We are looking at supporting about 1000 people with educational materials; from laptops, tablets, story books, exercise books and many more.
We are keen to encourage applications from parts of Ghana where we have traditionally received fewer applications or where there are few sources of funding.
We want to understand the experiences and perspectives of our applicants and partners, and so we regularly commission independent reviews and publish the findings.
